WILL MY PARTS HAVE SHARP EDGES
As a standard, uMake.ca processes all ferrous and non ferrous parts through a deburring and metal finish machine. This process ensures your parts meet the absolute best quality standard. There any no parts manufactured by uMake.ca that are too sharp, all materials are processed with this in mind
CUTS WITH CHAMFERS OR RADIUS
Metals (Laser and Waterjet) Our deburring machine will deliver a maximum of 0.01” radius when processed. Wood and Plastics (CNC only) Our CNC capabilities allows us to deliver 2D, 2.5D and 3D cutting for all wood substrates.
STONE AND PORCELAIN EDGE QUALITY
It can be specified by the client the expected edge quality for all stone and ceramic waterjet cuts. This is influenced by the cutting speed. A faster cut will deliver a more course edge quality but it will be more economical then a slow, fine edge quality. Customers are encouraged to review the examples of different cutting speeds and their associated cost. uMake.ca does offer some post 2D cutting edge finishing and polishing. Please request this step specifically if required for your project.
ACRYLIC EDGE QUALITY
uMake.ca is equipped to deliver a far superior edge quality for acrylic and polycarbonate. We offer CNC end mill finish or a diamond finish end mill quality as standard. Some post production edge finishes also include extra high quality diamond finishing combined with mechanical polish wheel or flame polishing. For laser cutting of acrylic up to 1/4” thick, the edge is transparent, but the pulse of the laser beam will be slightly visible on the cut edge.
